NICU RN – Level III-B NICU


Contract: 16 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights
Weekends: Every other weekend
Holidays: Major-holiday coverage required
Unit: 21-bed Level III-B NICU
Ratio: Typically 1:2–3, based on acuity and facility needs

Locals: Accepted with a rate reduction
 

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2.5–3 years of recent NICU experience
  • Experience caring for premature and critically ill neonates
  • Must have hands-on experience with:
    • Therapeutic body cooling
    • Conventional ventilators
    • Jet ventilation
    • High-frequency oscillatory ventilation
  • Neonatal resuscitation and stabilization experience
  • Ability to care for infants born as early as 23 weeks

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • NRP

Preferred: STABLE certification and Epic experience
Arrhythmia Test: Not required

Unit Details

The Level III-B NICU provides specialized care for premature, acute and chronically ill neonates. Nurses must be comfortable providing advanced respiratory support, developmental care, family education and emergency stabilization.

Equipment and procedures include:

  • Medfusion infusion pumps
  • PICC lines placed by specially trained RNs
  • Umbilical lines
  • Therapeutic body cooling
  • Conventional, jet and oscillator ventilators
  • Giraffe Shuttle transport system
  • Intubation performed by trained transport nurses

Floating

The RN may occasionally float within New Life services or to nearby NICUs based on staffing needs and clinical competency.

Important Notes

  • Active state RN license or eligible compact license required
  • First-time travelers are not specifically restricted, but strong NICU experience is essential
  • BSN and pediatric nursing certification are preferred
  • Ratios are based on patient acuity and are not guaranteed
