Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in an acute care setting. This role involves caring for neonatal patients with various diagnoses such as hypoglycemia, respiratory distress, and pre-term infants needing nutritional support. The position includes attending C-Sections and vaginal deliveries, as well as providing care for stable postpartum mothers and babies. The NICU Nurse will work nights, with a schedule that includes weekend shifts and potential floating to nearby units as needed.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule. The schedule is created by leadership for 6 weeks at a time; flexibility is expected to help fill scheduling gaps.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (American Heart Association), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), minimum of 2 years of NICU experience. Experience in acute care settings is preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior travel experience in NICU.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to a nearby facility located 26 miles away if census is low or there is a staffing need.
- Additional Information:
- The unit employs a LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) model with RNs working both in NICU charge and LD charge roles.
- Minimum staffing includes at least two registered nurses or a registered nurse and technician, focusing on safe staffing based on patient acuity.
- Orientation includes 1-3 shifts with a preceptor.
- Candidates must submit licensure documentation and be available from 10/05/2026 to 01/04/2027.
- The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
