NICU RN Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of recent, full-time equivalent nursing experience within the last 3 years
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where care is provided
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Level III NICU experience preferred
  • ACLS certification required

NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and highly skilled nursing care to critically ill newborns in the NICU
  • Monitor infants closely and respond quickly to changes in clinical condition
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to support optimal outcomes
  • Administer medications, maintain accurate documentation, and follow established clinical protocols
  • Support families through education, communication, and reassurance during a stressful time
  • Maintain a calm, organized, and detail-oriented approach in a high-acuity neonatal care environment
