Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Dallas, Texas. This position involves providing specialized care for neonatal patients, including preemies and infants with complex medical needs, in a hospital setting. The role requires clinical expertise in neonatal care, with responsibilities focused on supporting critically ill newborns and their families.
Job Details
- Position Description: Providing high-level neonatal care in a facility with advanced equipment and a focus on critical care for infants.
- Required Qualifications: Active certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Must have at least 1 year of clinical experience in a Level III NICU setting, including management of preemies (28 weeks and above), central lines, respiratory management up to and including intubated patients, and procedures such as central line insertions, circumcisions, exploratory laps, gastroschisis reductions, and PDA ligations.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours, with rotating weekends and holidays. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Care involves patients aged 2 years and under, including those with trach tubes and broviacs, in a unit staffed with registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, patient care technicians, and nurse externs. The unit uses Meditech documentation system and is equipped with nasal cannula, bubble CPAP, vents, oscillators, IV pumps, NIRS, warmers, isolettes, and other neonatal critical care equipment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with surgical patients, cardiac patients, and infants managing respiratory care up to and including intubation is desired.
- Float: Float rotation may be required, including coverage in PICU, Pediatrics, and CICU areas.
