Pay Breakdown
(Based on 36 hours)
W2 (taxable): $20.00/hr
Per Diem (Non-Taxable): $ 1,149
Gross Weekly Pay: $1,869.00/week
Experience Requirements
- 3–4+ years of strong Level III NICU experience preferred
- Strong experience caring for high-acuity and critically ill neonates
- Therapeutic cooling experience required
- Ability to independently manage complex and critically ill NICU patients
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred for traveler positions
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates.
- Care for infants requiring therapeutic hypothermia/cooling.
- Manage neonates requiring advanced respiratory and hemodynamic support.
- Demonstrate proficiency with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP/NIPPV, and high-flow oxygen.
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, UAC/UVC lines, and other invasive devices.
- Administer and titrate IV medications, continuous infusions, TPN, and blood products as ordered.
- Recognize and respond promptly to neonatal deterioration and emergency situations.
- Participate in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization.
- Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments and closely monitor changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary NICU team.
- Provide education and emotional support to parents and families throughout hospitalization.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Required Certifications
- Active RN License
- BLS
- NRP
- Additional certifications may be required based on facility policy
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have 3–4+ years of Level III NICU experience and strong hands-on experience caring for extremely high-acuity neonates. Therapeutic cooling experience is required. The candidate should be confident managing complex patients, responding to rapidly changing conditions, and working effectively in a fast-paced NICU environment with minimal supervision.
