Requirements

  • Experience Required: 2+ years NICU experience
  • Certification Required: BLS, NRP or NRP Advanced
  • Preferred Certification: STABLE
  • License Required: Active RN license

NICU Skills & Experience

  • Level II NICU experience
  • Care of premature neonates, including <24–28 weeks, 29–34 weeks, and >34 weeks
  • High-risk delivery attendance
  • UAC and UVC management
  • Arterial line and central line care
  • Blood and blood product administration
  • Neonatal dosage calculations
  • Surfactant administration
  • APGAR scoring
  • Developmental care and family education
  • Neonatal abstinence syndrome and seizure management
  • Bubble CPAP and HFNC
  • Ventilator management
  • Chest tube management
  • Respiratory distress syndrome and meconium aspiration
  • Neonatal sepsis and sepsis workup
  • Blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration
  • Phototherapy and hyperbilirubinemia management
  • Breastfeeding and breast milk handling
  • Bottle, breast, and gavage feedings
  • NG/NJ/oral tube placement and management
  • Thermoregulation
  • Phlebotomy and IV therapy

  • Hypoglycemia

  • Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTN)
