Unit Details
- 40-bed intermediate-care unit
- Typical ratio: 1:5 on nights and 1:4 on days
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Neuro and stroke patients
- Cardiac drips and progressive-care monitoring
- Unit contains pediatric-capable beds, but travelers will not receive pediatric assignments
- Ratios may change according to staffing and patient acuity
Requirements
- Active RN license for the state of practice or qualifying compact license
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Dysrhythmia exam required; study guide available
- Neuro/stroke experience preferred
- Acute-care and Epic experience preferred
Clinical Skills
- PCU/stepdown nursing

- Cardiac-drip management
- Comprehensive assessment and care planning
- Rapid response to changing patient conditions
- Multisystem and complex patient management
- Chest-tube care
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Advanced respiratory support
- Care coordination and patient/family education
- Safe medication administration and clinical documentation
Preferred: BSN, PCCN or CCRN certification, critical-care coursework, and Epic experience.
