Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of prior experience required in a large urban hospital License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: EPIC charting experience required Travel experience required Description: Travelers must be prepared to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the facility. Specialty includes mixed acuity (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown). RNs should be prepared to care for up to six Med Surg patients. The unit cares for a specialized patient population including strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions. Medical Surgical/Telemetry ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights. Night ratios may increase to 1:7 depending on staffing (this is rare). Stepdown ratios are 1:3-4, during days and nights. The facility equips eight beds for long-term EEG monitoring. First-time travelers will not be accepted. Candidates must have two years of experience at a Level 1 Academic Medical Center. RNs must float within their scope to meet facility needs, which could include floating to different units. In addition to CNAs, care teams include care techs and a transport team. LPNs are assigned on some, but not all floors. The facility is a 100% nicotine-free environment. Travelers are required to work four weekend shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period. Weekend shifts include Saturday and Sunday days or Friday and Saturday nights. Requests for time off are limited and must be included with the application. Holiday requirements include working two of three major holidays, specifically during winter holidays. Candidates must be more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible. Pending license acceptance is allowed; however, if the license is not in hand during submission, booking will occur six weeks out. Scrubs in a specific color and branding are required and details will be provided upon confirmation. Travelers will need to undergo a background check and submit required documentation within specified timeframes. Candidates are required to have experience with specific drips and interventions. Experience must include working within the last year at a Level 1 trauma facility. Candidates should have less than one year between permanent and travel positions.
