    Registered Nurse – ICU (Neuro/Surgical)

    Winston-Salem, NC | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | 13 weeks or longer | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide critical care nursing for neurological and surgical ICU patients in a 26-bed Neuro/Surgical ICU within a comprehensive stroke center
    • Manage and monitor patients with stroke, seizure, and complex neurological diagnoses, including titrating drips and operating invasive equipment
    • Perform ICP monitoring, EVD management, and ventilator management
    • Operate specialized equipment including Zoll temperature management/Arctic Sun, PCAs, and telemetry monitoring
    • Document and communicate using Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR systems
    • Float as needed to other ICUs and intermediate units per unit needs
    Required Qualifications
    • Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; prior travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers will not be accepted)
    • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
    • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
    • Proficiency in ICP monitoring, ventilator management, and telemetry
    • Local candidates (within 50 miles of facility) are welcome; a lower rate applies
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Significant experience with stroke management, ICP management, and seizure management in a critical care setting
    • Familiarity with EVD management and Zoll/Arctic Sun temperature management systems
    • Experience working in a Neuro or Surgical ICU environment
    • Comfort with scheduling per unit needs in a non-block scheduling environment
