    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

    Location

    Peoria, IL | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts | Every other weekend required | Rotating holidays

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex neurological cases including strokes (with/without tPA), ventriculostomy patients, and post-craniectomy patients
    • Titrate physician-ordered drips and manage arterial lines, central lines, and ventilators in accordance with physician orders
    • Apply NIH Stroke Scale assessments and support acute stroke management protocols including tPA administration
    • Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently using Philips monitoring systems; a tele tech is staffed on every shift
    • Collaborate with charge nurses, a 24/7 house supervisor, and patient care techs (9:1 ratio) to ensure safe, high-quality care
    • Float as needed to intermediate care (1:3 ratio) or general floor units (1:4 ratio) within the facility; travelers float first
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • Hands-on experience with ventriculostomy, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and tPA administration
    • Experience with acute stroke management and post-craniectomy care
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
    • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • NIH Stroke Scale certification
    • Prior ICU experience in a neuro or neurocritical care setting
    • Familiarity with a wide range of titratable drips in an ICU environment
    • Experience working with respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
