Travel Nurse RN - Neuro ICU in Baltimore, MD

Key Responsibilities Provide direct critical care nursing to adult and geriatric patients with complex neurological conditions including acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus, and post-craniotomy care. Operate and monitor specialized neuro ICU equipment including ICP monitors, external ventricular drains (EVDs), continuous EEG, mechanical ventilators, arterial lines, and central venous catheters.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct critical care nursing to adult and geriatric patients with complex neurological conditions including acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus, and post-craniotomy care
• Operate and monitor specialized neuro ICU equipment including ICP monitors, external ventricular drains (EVDs), continuous EEG, mechanical ventilators, arterial lines, and central venous catheters
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2, with up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients, within a 22-bed unit averaging a daily census of 21
• Administer targeted temperature management, infusion therapy, and point-of-care testing as indicated by patient condition
• Float within the specialty and to lower-acuity areas as needed; on-call may be required

Required Qualifications

• Active Maryland RN license or valid Compact RN license at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (locals under 50 miles are not accepted unless explicitly stated)
• Must be available for every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
• Must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version is the only accepted online vendor)
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification
• Experience with neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis or Guillain-Barré syndrome
