Description: Winter jobs with a 13-week contract available. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience or comprehensive stroke center experience. Fast-paced ICU treating neurological diseases and disorders such as seizures and strokes. This unit is a comprehensive stroke center. Candidates may also treat overflow ICU patients from other units. Candidates will float to other areas as needed. Flexibility to work every other weekend and holiday is required. Responsibilities include interpreting strips and managing high-acuity patients. Bedside procedures performed may include EVD placement, central line, and arterial line placements. Candidates should have experience with IV management, blood product administration, and ventilator care. Strong emphasis on infection prevention and management of multi-system organ dysfunction. The daily patient census averages around 28. The unit is supported by interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy and respiratory services. Patients are primarily adults and geriatrics with complex neurological diagnoses. Suitable candidates will be comfortable with floating to support the nursing care team. Previous charge experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must have experience with a charting system, specifically requiring Epic.
