Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neurocritical care with a focus on stroke patients, providing high-quality care in a comprehensive stroke center setting.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience is mandatory.
• First-time travelers will not be accepted.
• ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications are required.
• Strong neuro experience is essential, particularly in managing stroke patients.
• Ability to provide care for ventilated patients and manage complex neurological conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with arterial line management is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage critically ill neuro patients with various diagnoses including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, and seizures.
• Perform duties related to the management and treatment of patients with external ventricular drains (EVDs) and lumbar drains.
• Utilize advanced monitoring equipment including ICP monitoring and continuous IV sedation.
• Administer blood products and provide general post-neurosurgery care.
• Participate in shift rotations and contribute to a team-oriented environment.

Unit Information:

• Unit Ratios: 2:1 (may flex up to 3:1 during high census).
• Average Daily Census: 11-12.
• Shift: 12-hour nights from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Expected to work every other weekend.
• No on-call requirement; floating may be necessary based on unit needs.

Orientation and Scrubs:

• Unit Orientation: 24 hours over 2 days or 2 nights.
• Scrub colors: Navy blue & White.

Additional Information:

• Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting the position.
• Contract lengths of 16 weeks or longer accepted through February 27, 2027.
