Job Title: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years of Neuro ICU experience preferred; will consider candidates with 18 months of Neuro ICU experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Level 1 Trauma experience - EVD experience - Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience Description: Unit welcomes first-time travelers. Auto offer with 7 days of PTO or less. Holidays must be approved by unit manager. Candidate is required to pass DYS exam prior to accepting the position. Two attempts allowed for DYS exam; if failed, 6-month wait required. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit test. Day 1 includes a pass/fail exam; details to follow. Candidates can float to MS Tele/Tele floors; ratio is 1:4 on Tele unit. All RNs will be expected to complete skills lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Simulation lab is pass/fail; nurses must demonstrate competency in maintaining sterile field. Client expects every nurse to be competent in these essential nursing skills. Common diagnoses include any patient qualifying for critical care with a neuro diagnosis. Practices performed include craniotomies, brain tumor removals, complex spine surgeries, and scoliosis repairs. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. Charting system utilized is Cerner.
