Description

Job Opportunity – Neuro ICU Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required. No call requirement. Flexibility to float as needed.

Highlights:

  • Work in a Comprehensive Stroke Center with a diverse patient population including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, and post-neurosurgery patients
  • Patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census periods with average daily census of 11-12 patients
  • Utilizes EPIC charting system with full interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Specialized equipment experience including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
  • Contract lengths flexible from 13+ weeks with orientation provided (24 hours over 2 shifts)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (general ICU experience does not qualify)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Strong clinical skills including ventilator management, IV starts, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Specialized neuro skills: CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, and lumbar drain experience
  • Experience with isolation precautions and proper PPE use
  • Must be comfortable with patient ratios up to 3:1 and floating requirements
  • Arterial line management experience preferred
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
