# Job Opportunity – Neuro ICU Registered Nurse – North CarolinaStart Date: September 28, 2026Location: Charlotte, North CarolinaCompensation: Details provided to qualified applicantsSchedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend requiredHighlights:
  • Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in acute stroke care, with stroke patients representing the largest patient population
  • Patient ratios typically 2:1, may flex to 3:1 during high census periods
  • Average daily census of 11-12 patients in a 13-bed unit
  • Contract lengths from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027
  • No call requirement; floating within facility required
  • 24-hour orientation (2 shifts) with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
Requirements:
  • Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required (strong neuro critical care background essential)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Proficiency in Epic charting system required
  • Demonstrated expertise in: ventilator management, IV starts, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, isolation precautions/PPE, and lumbar drain experience
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Arterial line management experience
Patient Population:

As a comprehensive stroke center, you will care for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes (including subarachnoid hemorrhage), subdural hematomas, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis. Experience with various drains including EVDs, lumbar drains, hemovacs, and Camino ICP monitoring devices is essential.

EVD, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun therapeutic temperature management systems
