Strong Neuro ICU experience with a minimum of 2 years.
Experience with stroke patients is essential.
Description:
RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite.
Any call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation and DNR.
Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required.
Traveler experience is preferred; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
Local candidates will be considered but with a rate difference.
Skills include vents, IV start, neuro intensive care unit experience, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, care of ventilated patients, isolation precautions, use of PPE, and lumbar drain experience.
Strong neuro experience is mandatory.
The patient population includes strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic), SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling and clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis.
Knowledge of various drains used such as EVDs and lumbar drains is essential.
Staffing ratios are typically 2:1 but can flex to 3:1 during high census.
Average daily census is between 11-12 patients.
Floating within or near the facility may be required.
Weekend work will be required every other weekend.
The unit is a comprehensive stroke center with specialized procedures.
Familiarity with EVD, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun technology is preferred.
