Must-Have:
Must pass ECG exam on day 2, pass/fail.
16 beds in the unit.
Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2.
Experience with common diagnoses such as stroke, acute ischemic stroke, and intracerebral hemorrhage.
Familiarity with brain tumors, cerebral edema, and increased intracranial pressure is necessary.
Knowledge of managing acute respiratory failure, sepsis, pneumonia, and ARDS is required.
Experience with acute heart failure, pulmonary edema, and acute kidney injury is necessary.
Understanding diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute liver failure is needed.
Ability to recognize severe electrolyte abnormalities is important.
Description:
Titration of drips is required.
Common titratable drips include norepinephrine and epinephrine.
Vasopressin typically has a set rate, as well as phenylephrine.
Dopamine is also titratable.
Two clinical techs will assist with 16 patients on the unit.
Mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and noninvasive ventilation equipment must be utilized.
RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips.
Telemetry monitors will be Phillips brand.
Additional Expectations:
Every other weekend is required.
Floating may be necessary to other units, including MSICU and PCCU.
RNs will take care of boarders, up to four.
Each nurse is expected to work one major and one minor holiday per year.
Scrubs must be navy blue.
Epic access is required for this position.
