The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process and nursing trends. The RN maintains accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards. The plan of care is based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates directly in private when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. The RN confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. The RN identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
