Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Neuro Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: 2-3 years of experience in specialty; open to first-time travelers; ability to read and interpret dysrhythmias; passing dysrhythmia exam. Description: This telemetry unit is designed for neurology patients. The unit consists of 22 beds. Common diagnoses include stroke, TIA, seizure, and TBI. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 3-4. Central telemetry monitoring is provided with two monitor techs available. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Common infusions include heparin, amiodarone, and cardizem. Bipap, Cpap, and high-flow nasal cannula are available for respiratory support, but no ventilators are present. Nurses are required to pass a dysrhythmia exam. Shifts are from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM with schedules created about three weeks in advance. Self-scheduling is based on seniority, with shift trades available. Weekend requirements include four weekend shifts within a four-week schedule. Holidays are incorporated into the permanent staff rotation. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to IMCU or Med/Surg departments may be necessary. Scrub color is navy. A strong emphasis is placed on patient experience and core measures, especially in stroke care. The unit is busy and usually has a full patient load. Candidates should be self-motivated and team-oriented. The unit values commitment to their mission and values. The cancellation policy allows for the hospital to cancel up to four shifts during the assignment. Charting is done using a specific electronic health record system.
