Patients can include those with stable neurological deficits, as well as post-neurosurgery procedures. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips for Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine. Common titratable and/or set rate drips include PCA pumps. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift, and they will take an assignment. Nurse aides/patient care techs are available on this unit with a ratio of 1:10-20. Tele/Monitor Techs are present and will interpret the strips; Registered Nurses should have some tele awareness. Shifts run from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700. Travelers will be scheduled, and a limited amount of block scheduling can be approved. Weekend requirements include at least every other weekend, with additional shifts as needed based on unit demands. Holiday requirements include working 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's. Floating to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients may be necessary. Registered Nurses are expected to wear navy blue scrubs. The unit has mechanical lifts in every other room and emphasizes hourly rounding and responsiveness. This unit typically experiences multiple discharges and admissions each day. A successful nurse on this unit can manage daily tasks, demonstrates good attendance, is a team player, and shows compassion towards patients. The unit serves a diverse patient population, including those from various cultures. The charting system utilized is EPIC. No BSN is required for this position. This role is in an acute care setting. The division is Nursing. Hours are guaranteed at 36 per week.
