The unit has 20 beds. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 for floor patients. Common diagnoses include neurosciences, deep brain stimulators, stroke, seizures, surgical/post-op spines, and neurological disorders. Certification in NIHSS must be held at the time of submission. BLS certification is required, with ACLS preferred. Recent experience with the Epic charting system is crucial. Titration of drips is generally managed by physician's orders. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Registered nurses will not be required to manage vents. Monitoring techs are available, and registered nurses do not need to read strips themselves. There may be a floating requirement to other units as needed. The dress code consists of any combination of white and royal blue. Travelers are expected to work weekends and holidays as part of the rotation. The cancellation policy allows for two shifts per 13-week contract.
