Description:
This position is for a Nurse in a Neuro MedSurg unit with 20 beds.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5-6 for floor patients.
Common diagnoses include neurological disorders, deep brain stimulators, stroke, seizures, and surgical or postoperative spine patients.
Candidates must possess NIHSS certification at the time of application.
It is preferred that candidates hold an ACLS certification.
Strong experience working with Epic and proficiency with G-tubes is essential.
The role does not require step-down RN experience.
The nurse will have support from nurse aides, with a typical ratio of 1:7-10.
Respiratory therapy services are available 24/7.
Nurses are not required to have vent experience as RT manages ventilation settings.
There is telemetry on this unit, but nurses do not read strips; this is verified by monitor techs and documented in Epic.
Weekend night shifts require working either Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Travelers must be flexible with scheduling, including potential floating to other units as needed.
This role includes a holiday rotation expectation.
The dress code is a combination of white and royal blue.
