Job Title: Registered Nurse II - Neuro Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience required Description: New requirements include consideration for candidates with Level 2 Trauma experience. Candidates with 18+ months of experience are welcome. First-time travelers are also welcome. Auto offer if the candidate has 7 days of paid time off or less; holiday PTO must be approved. Experience with Level 1 Trauma is necessary. A 50-mile radius rule applies; no local rates. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam before acceptance, with two attempts allowed. If a candidate fails, they will be marked as do not use within the specified regions. Travelers must have their own vehicles. Natural hair color is required, and there should be no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. A pass/fail exam will occur on the first day of orientation. All RNs will be expected to complete a skills lab related to Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. This is a pass/fail assessment. Staff must understand sterile field maintenance as this is vital nursing practice. Additional skills related to lifts, restraints, and wound care will be educational. Essential skills include titration of drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin Drips. The unit consists of 32 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Common patient diagnoses include trached patients, cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injury, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, end-stage renal disease, psychiatric issues, and brain tumors. The average length of stay is 4-5 days. This unit is fast-paced with high turnover and takes bedside report. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted using an electronic medical record system. Shifts are from 7 AM to 7 PM. Floating may occur to other medical/surgical telemetry units.
