Description:
Unit is a fast-paced, high turnover environment.
Total of 32 beds available in the unit.
Ratios are 1:4.
Nurses will take a light patient assignment as Charge Nurse.
There are 4 nurse aides on the day shift and 3 on the night shift to assist with basic tasks.
The unit requires a total of 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks.
Holiday coverage will be based on unit needs.
Nurses are required to maintain competency in catheter insertion and dressing changes.
Travelers must understand sterile field protocols to pass the skills lab.
Common diagnoses include trached patients, CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, and brain tumors.
The average length of stay for patients is 4-5 days.
Central monitoring is available, and nurses must be able to interpret EKGs.
A SWAT RN is on hand for difficult IV access.
Pharmacy and respiratory therapy services are available 24/7.
Nurses must be prepared to float to other units if necessary.
Basic reporting will be performed at the bedside.
There is a cancellation policy allowing for the possibility of shifts being canceled based on unit requirements.
