The nursing staff will have a patient ratio of 1:3-4. Charge nurses do not have a patient assignment and are supported by a manager. Patient Care Technicians are assigned at a ratio of 1 PCT for every 13 patients. Nurses will be expected to work every other weekend. Scrub color for the unit is navy blue. Centralized telemetry is utilized, and RNs are accountable for EKG interpretations. The unit is equipped to handle High Flow Oxygen and has respiratory therapy available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available around the clock. Common diagnoses include neuro conditions, CVAs, pulmonary issues, and general telemetry cases. Cancellations may occur up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment period. The charting system used is Cerner.
