Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care in a Level 2 Neonatal ICU setting, practicing independently and demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient situations
- Utilize the nursing process — including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly
- May float to mother/baby unit as needed; assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license
- Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification required (Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor)
- Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in NICU or related neonatal nursing specialty
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience in a Perinatal setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency program
- Demonstrated ability to make appropriate assignments and delegate effectively to other care team members
