Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to neonatal patients 32 weeks gestational age and above in a 12-bed Level II Special Care Nursery with an average census of 10
- Manage patients with diagnoses including CPAP, High Flow, feeder/grower status, rule-out/suspected sepsis, and hyperbilirubinemia
- Independently start all peripheral IVs on neonatal patients; a certified neonatal PICC team is available for PICC line placement
- Maintain patient ratios of typically 3:1, adjusting to 2:1 based on acuity
- Complete a pass/fail Sim Lab assessment (Foley catheter insertion) on Day 1 of orientation (study guides provided)
- Float to a sister facility NICU as required per floating policy
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required
- Level II NICU experience required
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health, within the past 12 months
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Level III NICU experience strongly preferred
- Experience with CPAP and High Flow oxygen therapy in a neonatal setting
- Familiarity with neonatal peripheral IV insertion
