Rapid Response – Registered Nurse (RN), NICU

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Rapid Response (6-Week Assignment) | Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Three 12-hour shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 108-bed Level III NICU with patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:4
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including nasal cannula, bubble CPAP, ventilators, oscillators, IV pumps, NIRS, warmers, and isolettes
- Support and assist with unit procedures including central line insertions, circumcisions, exploratory laps, gastroschisis reductions, and PDA ligations
- Manage respiratory care up to and including intubated patients and maintain central line management protocols
- Document patient care using CPN and Meditech electronic documentation systems
- Float to related pediatric units (PICU, Pediatrics, CICU) as needed, caring for patients under 2 years of age per floating policy
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (must be eligible to work in Texas)
- BLS certification required — must be included in submission packet
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required — must be included in submission packet
- Minimum 1 year of Level III NICU experience
- Experience caring for premature infants (28 weeks gestation and above)
- No requested time off (RTO) or special scheduling accommodations; must be available to start within 5–7 days of offer
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with surgical patients including cardiac patients and gastroschisis or other complex neonatal conditions
- Experience caring for infants under 27 weeks gestation
- Experience with tracheostomy care in neonatal/infant patients
- Familiarity with Broviac catheter care and management
