Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Expected 36 hours/week | Occasional optional overtime may be available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to NICU patients in a 23-bed unit, managing patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
- Perform procedures including PIV insertion, feeding tube insertion, lab draws, straight catheterization, and central line management
- Provide airway and respiratory management in conjunction with the Rapid Response Team (RRT), including use of Drager vents, oscillators, bubble/vent CPAPs, and NIPPV
- Assist RRT and providers with intubation, surfactant administration, central line placement, and chest tube placement
- Document patient care using Centricity Perinatal and Meditech systems
- Willingness to take standby/call during low census periods is highly preferred; occasional optional float to mother-baby as a tech if desired
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license applicable to the state of Tennessee
- Minimum of one year of NICU nursing experience required; Level III or IV NICU experience required
- BLS certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- STABLE certification required
- Proficiency with equipment including Giraffe Omnibed, Panda warmer, Alaris IV pump, syringe feeding pump, and neo-T resuscitator
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Two or more years of NICU nursing experience
- Experience with Centricity Perinatal and/or Meditech documentation systems
- Comfort with variable weekend scheduling and standby/call availability during low census
