Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – NICU Level IV – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am), Monday through Friday with 2-3 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period. Patient ratio 1:3. Float requirements to pediatric units for patients under 12 months of age.

  • Work in a 26-bed Level IV NICU within a Magnet-designated children's hospital providing the highest level of neonatal critical care
  • Manage complex, high-acuity cases including post-operative surgical patients, congenital heart disease, neurological disorders, and neonates requiring advanced respiratory support
  • Utilize Epic charting system and advanced equipment including multiple ventilator modes (NAVA, oscillators), whole body cooling (Arctic Sun), and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience a patient- and family-centered care model in a state-of-the-art healing environment designed specifically for pediatric patients
  • 24 hours of orientation provided with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and physical therapy
  • Travel nursing assignment with pre-approved time off available
Requirements:
  • Active RN license (Wisconsin or Compact state)
  • Minimum 2 years total NICU Level III/IV experience required
  • At least 1 full year of Level IV NICU experience (hard requirement)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications (American Heart Association only) required; PALS preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Demonstrated expertise in trach/vent management, post-operative care, g-tubes, and various invasive/noninvasive ventilation modes
  • Advanced NICU skills including central line management, arterial lines, IV vasopressors, high-frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Must pass telemetry competency exam with strict passing criteria (80% minimum, 100% on lethal rhythms)
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
