Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – Wisconsin

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am), Monday through Friday with 2-3 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period. Patient ratios 1:3. Up to two pre-approved time-off periods available.

  • Care for critically ill neonates with complex medical and surgical needs, including post-operative care, cardiac conditions, neurologic disorders, and congenital abnormalities
  • Advanced equipment including ventilators (Draeger, servo, oscillator), NAVA technology, whole body cooling (Arctic Sun), and high-frequency ventilation
  • Epic electronic medical record system with 24 hours of orientation provided
  • Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
  • Travel nursing experience required; float to pediatric units caring for patients less than 12 months of age as needed
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years total NICU Level III/IV experience, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU setting (combined Level III and IV experience acceptable to meet 2-year total)
  • Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state license
  • BLS and NRP certifications required (American Heart Association only); PALS preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Experience with post-operative neonatal patients, g-tubes, tracheostomy/ventilator management, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
  • Proficiency in neonatal dosage calculations, starting and maintaining IVs, central line management, arterial line management, and administration of IV vasopressors
  • Must pass telemetry competency exam with strict passing criteria prior to start date
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
