Description

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience required. License: RN License Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Manager approval required for first-time travelers. Description: This position involves providing care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The unit consists of 53 beds plus overflow with an average patient census of 58. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory distress syndrome, meconium aspiration, congenital heart defects, and necrotizing enterocolitis. Skills required include EPIC experience, management of critical care vasoactive drips, and familiarity with various medical equipment. The role includes performing bedside procedures, managing feeding tubes, and ventilator management. Support within the department includes a unit secretary, charge nurse, and 24/7 access to intensivists and residents. Weekend rotation will be required to work two Fridays and two Mondays, plus every other weekend. Travelers will work holidays as scheduled, with unit-specific requirements for holiday shifts. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and flexibility. Dress code includes wearing navy scrubs without branded attire or artificial nails. Bare below elbow policy is practiced in the nurseries.
