Job Opportunity – NICU Registered Nurse – Texas

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Lubbock, Texas

Schedule: 13-week contract with potential for extension; self-scheduling with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period; 48-hour weeks available; 12-hour orientation; PRN float to Pediatrics/PICU/Pediatric ED as needed

Highlights:
  • Level IV NICU at a 181-bed Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 43 NICU beds and average daily census of 35 patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:2-4 caring for neonates with prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, surgical cases (all subspecialties except cardiac), and HIE
  • Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including interpretation services
  • Advanced skills utilized including high frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide, ECMO support, and management of complex surgical cases
  • Contracts longer than 13 weeks available for candidates seeking extended assignments
  • Free parking in any unrestricted space with bike racks available
Requirements:
  • Active RN license (Compact license preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required; Level III or Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Proficiency in advanced NICU skills including ventilator management, administration of blood products, central line care, high frequency ventilation, and care of critically ill neonates
  • Commitment to work 3 of 5 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
