Description:
This position is for a Birthing Center specializing in Labor and Delivery.
The unit has 13 L&D beds and 2 OR suites for C-sections, along with 2 triage beds and 14 postpartum beds.
On average, the unit sees approximately 170-190 births per month.
The facility follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 for Labor and Delivery and 1:3-4 for couplets.
Common diagnoses include high-risk pregnancies, preeclampsia, diabetes, and psychosocial issues.
Obstetric and Neonatology specialists are on-site 24/7 to assist with triaging and emergent cases.
Anesthesia providers are also present 24/7.
Patient care assistants and a surgical tech support the nurses on each shift.
The facility employs a block scheduling model when requested.
Travelers are expected to be adaptable to workflows, policies, procedures, and feedback.
There is a requirement for floating between Mother Baby and postpartum units, but no floating to NICU or outside the department.
Scrubs are provided, and lockers are available for staff.
The manager is approachable and provides regular feedback to ensure quality work from all staff members.
