Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of specialty experience required License: RN License (state or compact) Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Antepartum trained to float to Labor & Delivery with fetal monitoring experience - Experience with breastfeeding support for postpartum patients Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care for postpartum patients who do not require ICU-level care. The patient population includes high-risk patients and newborns who do not require NICU-level care. Responsibilities include administration of medications and therapies, including magnesium drips, insulin drips, and PCA & PCEA pumps. The nurse will perform assessments and interventions related to newborn care, such as temperature regulation and hypoglycemia management. Education of parents regarding postpartum care, breastfeeding, and infant safety is essential. The nurse will work within a team that includes interdisciplinary support services. Patient ratios are typically 1:3 couplets or up to 6 patients. The position may require floating to other areas as needed. Weekend and call coverage may also be required. Charting will be performed using designated electronic health record systems. The unit focuses on providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population.
