Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years required License: Valid State License (Compact license required) Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Travel experience required - Patient ratio experience Description: 2 years of experience required. First-time travelers are not accepted. Certifications required include BLS and NRP. Floating may be required to NICU or Labor & Delivery. Weekends may be required to meet staffing needs. Unit provides care for postpartum vaginal or cesarean delivery, tubal ligation, and circumcision. Additional services include GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum, and transition nursery. Responsibilities include blood and blood products administration, management of drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. Other duties entail wound vac management, administration of heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate. Experience in OB-GYN post-op care and postpartum care following vaginal delivery is essential. Candidates should be familiar with postpartum readmissions and normal newborn care, including thermoregulation and glucose management. Skills required include discharge teaching to parents, infant identification, newborn assessment, phototherapy, and thermoregulation. Candidates must understand the management of newborn hypoglycemia and post-epidural care. Knowledge in pain assessment and management, use of PCA, bladder assessment, and Foley catheter insertion is necessary. Breastfeeding instruction, episiotomy/incision care, and fundus/lochia/perineum care are also important. Experience in both vaginal delivery and cesarean sections is required. Knowledge of postpartum hemorrhage and care for pregnancy-induced hypertension is essential. The unit has a total of 16 beds and caters to adolescent, infant, and adult patients. Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays during the contract period. References covering the last 1 year of experience are required.
