Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 36 hours orientation; weekend coverage required; may float to units with similar acuity; two pre-approved time off periods available
Highlights:
- 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit providing family-centered care to mothers and newborns
- Diverse patient population including postpartum vaginal and cesarean deliveries, healthy newborns, and NAS infants
- Daily census of approximately 60 patients with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- EPIC electronic medical record system
- Couplet care model with Level 1 nursery experience
- Telemetry interpretation required; EKG exam must be passed prior to start date
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- IV start skills and labor & delivery experience required
- EPIC charting system experience required
- Valid compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of application
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor
- Must be available to complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements immediately upon contract signing
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
Clinical Skills:
- Postpartum assessments including fundus, lochia, and perineum care
- Cesarean section and episiotomy care
- Newborn assessments and care including thermoregulation and phototherapy
- Breastfeeding instruction and electric/manual breast pump education
- Administration of medications including magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
- Management of postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Care of multiple births, low birth weight infants, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Administration of blood and blood products
- IV antibiotics and heparin administration
- Discharge teaching to parents including circumcision care and cord care
