BLS and IV certification required. Minimum 2 years of experience in postpartum nursing is necessary. Experience with charting systems is required. Telemetry interpretation is required, and RN will be expected to pass an EKG exam prior to start. Experience includes administration of blood and blood products, antihypertensives, and bladder assessment. Responsibilities include providing education on breastfeeding, cord care, and discharge teaching to parents. Care for postpartum patients includes vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. The RN will manage complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Newborn care involves assessment, thermoregulation, and identification procedures. Additional support available includes IV teams, physical therapy, and social services. The unit provides family-centered care to women and infants. A strict compliance deadline is in place regarding credentialing and fingerprinting. Two professional references are required for application. References must include one from a formal leadership capacity. Current employees are ineligible for traveler assignments. Education must be from an accredited nursing program.
