Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit serving med/surg and post-operative/spine patients
- Administer and monitor heparin drips in accordance with facility protocols
- Maintain a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on night shift
- Float across multiple campuses as required by unit needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support post-operative and spine care patient populations
- Required to work 1–2 winter holidays unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
- Active BLS certification through AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
- Minimum 24 months of medical/surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
- Strong heparin experience required
- Post-operative surgical experience required
- Spine care experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Minimum 3 months of travel nursing experience within the previous 12 months required; first-time travelers are not eligible
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
- Experience floating across multiple hospital campuses
- Familiarity with orthopaedic or spine surgical patient populations
