    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical (Stroke Stepdown)

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 64-bed Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit serving an adult patient population
    • Manage and monitor patients presenting with common diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal/dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical surgical conditions
    • Operate specialty equipment including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
    • Adhere to isolation protocols and pulmonary care standards as required by patient condition
    • Float to other units as needed per facility requirements
    • Maintain current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification as required for this unit
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York (all active RN licenses must be verifiable)
    • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (may be obtained prior to start date)
    • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
    • Prior travel nursing experience required
    • Proficiency with EPIC EMR
    • Locals are welcome to apply (local rate applies for candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility)
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience caring for patients requiring dialysis or renal management
    • Familiarity with pulmonary conditions including COPD and pneumonia management
    • Experience with block scheduling environments and flexible shift assignments
