Key Responsibilities Obtain and record initial patient assessments, establishing care priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs; reassess patients systematically to identify trends requiring intervention. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized, measurable plans of care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care; modify plans based on patient outcomes and clinical findings.
Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of clinical facts; implement and document timely, appropriate interventions.
Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning.
Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments, follow up on delegated tasks for quality and completeness, and utilize appropriate chain of command for issue resolution.
Perform Point of Care testing procedures and maintain compliance with all patient and environmental safety policies.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
Current New Mexico RN license or valid Compact state RN license.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a Medical/Surgical nursing role.
Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the developmental age of the patient.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience working with the EPIC electronic medical records system.
Demonstrated ability to float across multiple Medical/Surgical departments as needed.
Experience in a travel or high-acuity Med/Surg environment with a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
