Key Responsibilities

• Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice
• Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to manage clinical situations; may float to all Medical/Surgical departments as required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of employment or valid compact license
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Medical/Surgical nursing setting
• Ability to fulfill weekend requirement: expected 2–4 shifts per month, rotated among staff
• Ability to fulfill on-call requirement: expected 2–4 shifts per month, rotated among staff
• Willingness to float to all Medical/Surgical departments as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Experience with EPIC EMR
• Familiarity with a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio environment
