Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 55-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 5:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Read and interpret EKG strips and confidently manage telemetry patients
- Float between both MedSurg units as needed, with a designated home base unit
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, respiratory therapy (24/7), and pharmacy (24/7)
- Utilize Cerner EMR for all clinical documentation
- Participate in the permanent staff holiday rotation
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in California
- BLS certification required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Minimum 2 years of solid Medical Surgical experience (night shift); 3–4 years preferred for day shift
- Ability to read EKG strips and manage telemetry patients
- Ability and willingness to float between MedSurg units
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 3–4 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-census acute care environment
- Prior charge nurse experience or comfort working alongside charge nurses who do not carry a patient assignment
