Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 1:6 patient ratio
- Care for post-operative patients, including monitoring and recovery support
- Maintain and manage surgical drains and drainage systems
- Perform dressing changes, wound care, and related procedures
- Operate unit equipment including Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, and SCDs
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech EMR
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Virginia or compact state eligibility
- BLS certification required — candidates without this will not be considered
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Ability to work night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for post-operative patients
- Proficiency with dressing changes, wound care, and drain management
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong patient advocacy skills
