Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for medical and post-operative/surgical patient populations
- Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation and patient management
- Monitor patients using portable telemetry equipment as needed; must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a dysrhythmia exam
- Float as needed to telemetry (1:4 ratio) and between Medical Surgical floors
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including a hospitalist available 24/7, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations integrated with permanent staff scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum 2–3 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms; must pass a dysrhythmia exam upon onboarding
- Proficiency or ability to work with Cerner EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience floating to telemetry units
- Familiarity with post-operative and surgical patient populations
- Strong team-oriented mindset with demonstrated ability to collaborate in fast-paced environments
