Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required | Every other winter and summer holiday required; no time off approved on designated hard-to-fill holidays (e.g., Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed Surgical Orthopedics Med-Surg unit, caring for both general medical and post-operative surgical patients
- Admit and manage patients from the Emergency Department who meet inpatient admission criteria
- Care for surgical populations including general surgery, orthopedics, bariatrics, plastics, and urology; cases include appendectomies, cholecystectomies, colorectal surgeries, small bowel obstructions, amputations, joint replacements, spine surgery, and limb lengthening
- Maintain standard patient ratios of 1:5, with willingness to work a 1:6 ratio based on unit needs
- Float within scope to other like units across the system as needed
- Document patient care accurately using Cerner electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
- Basic EKG experience required
- Comfort caring for both general medical and post-operative surgical patients
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Orthopedic and total joint replacement nursing experience
- Prior experience with Cerner charting system
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
