    Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

    Location

    Peoria, IL

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) | Rotating holidays

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide post-operative and acute surgical care to a patient population that includes trauma, overflow medical, and surgical patients on a 63-bed unit
    • Perform and manage wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, drain management, nasogastric tubes, central lines, and TPN
    • Monitor patients on telemetry in coordination with central station monitor technicians; manage inhalers and place patients on CPAP as needed
    • Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care technicians to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios and quality care
    • Float to units with equivalent experience level as needed; travelers are first to float
    • Participate in a structured unit orientation including preceptor shifts and an electronic health record and professional orientation session
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Experience in post-operative patient care
    • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to recognize when to escalate care
    • Ability to work in a drug-free environment and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with central lines, TPN, wound care, and drain management in an acute surgical setting
    • Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
    • Experience working with CPAP and high-flow oxygen equipment
    • Strong bedside manner and demonstrated ability to function as a team player
