    Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Short Stay Unit managing high patient turnover with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
    • Care for patients presenting with stroke, trauma, cardiac conditions, and general medical diagnoses such as UTI, COPD, and cellulitis
    • Utilize Philips house-wide telemetry monitoring system; RNs are not required to independently read EKG strips
    • Manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment as needed per PRN or scheduled orders
    • Collaborate with Charge RN, House Supervisor, and Patient Care Technicians present on every shift
    • Float to other departments as needed, with travelers prioritized for floating assignments
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
    • Demonstrated general medical/surgical nursing experience
    • Ability to meet weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
    • Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in a short stay, observation, or high-turnover medical/surgical unit
    • Familiarity with stroke, cardiac, and trauma patient populations
    • Comfort with BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen in a non-ICU setting
