    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required (Saturday & Sunday) | Holiday rotation required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 63-bed Surgical Acute unit, managing post-operative surgical patients, trauma cases, and overflow medical patients
    • Perform and oversee wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, drain management, NG tube care, central line care, and TPN administration
    • Monitor patients on telemetry; manage inhalers and place patients on CPAP as needed (monitor strip reading handled by central station techs)
    • Administer and manage set-rate drips including Heparin; titration of drips is not required
    • Collaborate with PCT staff, charge nurses, and house supervisors to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios (typically 5–6 patients per RN on nights)
    • Float to units of equivalent experience level as needed; travelers are first to float
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
    • Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
    • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience in post-operative patient care strongly preferred
    • Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system
    • Strong critical thinking skills, team-oriented mindset, and professional bedside manner
    • Comfort working with CPAP and high-flow oxygen equipment
